On Thursday, Oct. 4, we tested the film in the theater at O’Cinema in Miami. I snapped this picture from my front row seat. So exciting to see the movie on a big theater screen! It looked great!

Angel Calzadilla, a late Miami cop, recalls how Tom Wolfe asked him about Cuban culture and the structure of a Cuban family. Angel and Tom met several times for interviews and conversations while Tom Wolfe was in Miami researching his book ‘Back to Blood’.

Angel Calzadilla was interviewed by the Director of the documentary Tom Wolfe Gets Back to Blood, Oscar Corral. Sadly, Calzadilla died before the book was published and the movie was released.

Angel Calzadilla, a Miami cop who died last year, shares his story on how he was introduced to Tom Wolfe for the first time at a conference in Philadelphia by the Chief of Police at the time, John Timoney.

Oscar Corral, Director of Tom Wolfe Gets Back to Blood, interviewed Calzadilla about the role he played in Tom Wolfe’s research in Miami for his book ‘Back to Blood’. Calzadilla helped Wolfe better understand the Miami Police department and the Cuban-American family structure.

Sadly, Calzadilla passed away before the completion of the book and the film.
